William "Bill" Otto Wagner, age 89 of Shell Lake, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015. Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Irene Wagner; parents, Frank and Amalia Wagner; brother, Frank L. Wagner; sisters, Lenora Jorgensen and Anita Nimmer. Bill is survived by his sister, Myrtle Angle; special nephew, Darrick “Rick” Kolterjohn; special friend, Del Cottrell; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bill married the love of his life, Irene, on October 16, 1948 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, WI. Bill was honorably discharged from the US Army Air Force as a sergeant and Communications Chief in 1949. Bill was very passionate about his education and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University on June 13, 1951. Over the years, Bill and Irene resided in Milwaukee, Greenfield and Oshkosh, WI. After 23.5 years of service at General Motors Corporation, Bill retired. Bill and Irene then spent several years in their home on Rooney Lake Road near Spooner, WI, before later moving to the Glenview Assisted Living in Shell Lake, WI, in 2012. Bills served on the Board of Directors for the Polk-Burnett Cooperative and as an avid member, choir participant, and endowment fund advisor for the Lakeside Lutheran Church in Webster, WI. His other hobbies included duck hunting, building heath kits, and furthering his education. Special thanks to the caring staff at Glenview Assisted Living in Shell Lake, WI. Bill and Irene were very appreciative of the care they received and often said they couldn’t have found a better place to be. Funeral Services for Bill will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 11 AM (visitation from 10-11 AM) at Lakeside Community Lutheran church in Webster, with Pastor Bill Shroeder officiating. Interment will be held at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Spooner. Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, WI.
