William E. Bly, age 80 of Siren, Wisconsin died Monday, October 27, 2008 at Spooner Health Systems, Spooner, Wisconsin. William was born March 7, 1928 in Dewey Township, Burnett County, Wisconsin to Ellen Maybel (Bjugstad) and William Ray Bly. William graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1946. He farmed and managed feed mills for several years before working as a telegrapher for Union Pacific Railroad for 5 years. William was a State Trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol for 14 years. William enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed photography and loved to play the guitar and sing. William is survived by his wife Elwyn of Siren, daughters Carol (Ron) Grunewald of Watertown, Wisconsin, Joan (Marty) Verhoef of St. George, Utah and Lois (Ken) Mease of Bethlehem, Pennslyvania, grandchildren Rob Grunewald, Amy (Ryan) Grunewald-Mattison and Addie Mease, great grandchildren Dietrich and Elliott Mattison, sister Lorraine West of Las Cruces, New Mexico, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 30 at 11:00 A.M. at the Siren United Methodist Church, with Pastor Tom Cook officiating. A time of gathering will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Music was provided by soloistRich Hutchison and organist Kathy Hutchison. Interment followed at the Lorain Cemetery, Lorain Township, Wisconsin. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Webster, Wisconsin.
