Walter (Buster) Joseph Benedix, Jr., age 86, of Webster, WI, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018.
Walter was born on March 4, 1932 to parents Walter Sr. and Myrtle (Nelson) Benedix in Chicago, IL.
On September 7, 1957, Walter was united in marriage to Rosalie Gaba. Upon this union, 5 children were born.
Walter enlisted with the United States Marine Corp in 1951, served as a Sergeant during the Korean conflict from 1952-1954. He was awarded the Korean Service Ribbon; National Defense, United Nations; Good Conduct, and Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He transferred to the reserves in 1954 serving until 1959 at which time he received an Honorable discharge.
Walter received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Liberal Arts and Science from the University of Illinois. Walter also received Vocational Specialist Degrees in Real Estate, Welding and Automotive Technology.
Walter was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1532 in Chicago, IL.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents; wife Rosalie; sister, Marilyn; brothers; Richard, James, Keith and great-grandson, Alexander.
He is survived by his children: Susan (Tom) Gilbert, Walter “Bud” (Kim) Benedix III, Stephen (Traci) Benedix, Karen Benedix, and William Benedix; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; along with many other family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM (visitation 9-10 AM) at Faith Lutheran Church in Spooner with Pastor Brent Berkesch officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 4-7 PM at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
Pallbearers are Matt Benedix, Nick Benedix, Tom Gilbert, Marc Gregor, Chris Rapp and Eric Rapp.
