Wallace “Wally” Keith Rankin, 68, passed away Friday October 18, 2013 at his residence in Webster, Wisconsin. Wally was born to Lloyd and Esther (Tysdale) Rankin on February 22, 1945 in St. Paul, MN. He attended Cottage Grove High School. Wally honorably served in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge during Vietnam. After the service, he graduated from watchmaking school, and worked construction with his brother Rod. Wally worked his way up to foreman for Knutson Construction, and later retired in 1997. In 1989 Wally married Ruthie under an apple tree in Cottage Grove. They moved to Webster, Wisconsin from Woodbury, Minnesota. Wally enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing, the occasional Vikings victory, and wintering down in Mission, Texas. He especially loved being with his grandchildren. Wally’s kindness, calm presence, easygoing and friendly manner will be dearly missed by those who loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Gerald, and sister Deanna. Wally is survived by his loving wife Ruthie, daughters Lori Jo Evans, Kim (Jerry) Stypula, Denise (Dave) Lunsman, son Dale (Cheryl) Doriott; grandchildren Missi, Danielle, Curt, Trevor, Carter, Emma, Charlie, Courtney; great-grandchildren Aubri, Chloe, Oliver, Gavyn, Dayne; brother Rod (Nancy) Rankin, sister Karen Nash; many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. Memorial Service will be held 11am Wednesday October 23, 2013 at the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster, Wisconsin. A time to greet friends will begin at 10 am prior to the service.
