Wallace “Wally” Richard Mitchell, of Grantsburg, WI passed away on March 24, 2024 at M Health Fairview in Minneapolis with his family by his side. Wally was born on May 25, 1934 to Wallace and Lorraine in Cloquet, MN.
Wally was a pilot and flying instructor and also Master of the Masonary Lodge. Wally worked as a machinist in St. Paul for 21 years eventually opening his own Auto Parts business in Grantsburg, WI which he ran and operated for 14 years. After retiring, Wally and Delores spent a few winters in Arizona.
Wally’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, golfing and many garage projects, but most of all he enjoyed the company of his family and friends. Later in life Wally started going to the Senior Center where he enjoyed playing pool and chatting with friends.
Wally is preceded in death by his parents; children, Leona and Mike; brother, Larry and Ronald; sister, Lois; son in law, George.
Wally will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Delores; children, Kim, Renee (Kevin), Jamie (Lisa); brother, Bob and David; grandchildren, Mathew, Nina, Michelle, Greg, Nathan, Cassie, Tyler, Evan, Jordon; great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and great-great grandchildren; along with other relatives and many friends.
The memorial service will take place on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 3:00 PM (visitation from 2-3 pm) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg with Pastor John Addison officiating with Military Honors to follow. Burial will take place following the service at the Riverside Cemetery.
