Vivian Salzmann

Vivian Salzmann, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at her home on Viola Lake in the township of LaFollette. Vivian was born near Danbury to Edgar and Josephine Miller on August 30, 1919. She grew up there on the farm attending school at Pansy and graduated from Webster High School. Vivian and LeVoine Culbertson were married on October 15, 1938. They had three children Kermit (Jeanne) Culbertson of Chippewa Falls, Janice (Darrell) Olson of Grantsburg, and Carole (Guy) Hansen of Rhinelander. She worked for many years at Nelson’s Store in Siren. LeVoine died in 1967. At that time Vivian went to school at Polk County Normal and became a teacher. She loved her little second graders at Spooner Elementary School. Later she continued her education at UW-Superior and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. On March 15, 1974 Vivian married Roland Salzmann. They lived on Viola Lake until the time of her death. Vivian is survived by her husband Ron, her three children, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and her brother Quentin Miller of Falun. Vivian will be remembered for her spunk, determination and great love of family. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Lindberg officiating. Music was provided by Fran McBroom and Janelle Tollander. Interment followed at Viola Lake Cemetery. Casketbearers were Randy Culbertson, Dina Brennan, DJ Olson, Brian Hansen, Tara Jacob, Janelle Tollander, Brett Olson and Matt Hansen. Arrangements were entrusted to the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster. Online condolences can be made at www.swedberg-taylor.com.
