Victor Shepherd

Victor M. Shepherd, age 85, of Webster, formerly of Minneapolis, died suddenly at his home, on January, 20, 2017. Victor was born on September 1, 1931 in Stillwater, MN, the youngest of six children of parents, Fredonia (Mero) and Roy Shepherd. He attended the Minneapolis Vocational High School. Victor served in the U.S. Navy, enlisting on May 21, 1951. He was primarily assigned to Naval Parachute Unit at the Naval Auxiliary Air Station in El Centro, CA, and was honorably discharged on May 20, 1955. On November 13, 1954, Victor was united in marriage to Marie Anne Gardner. He was employed as a sheet metal fabricator for numerous years. He owned the Oak Haven Resort in Bemidji, MN from 1989-2000 and retired to Webster in 2000. Victor is preceded in death by his parents; siblings; mother in law; son-in-law; and sister-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marie Shepherd; five children: Edward, Patrick, Rochelle, Thomas and Annette; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am (visitation 10:00 to 11:00 am), Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Webster, with Father Michael J. Tupa presiding. A fellowship luncheon will follow the service. Pall bearers are Adam Shepherd, Kyle Shepherd, Sean Obregon and Jordan Shepherd. In lieu of flowers, memorials are greatly appreciated.
