Vera Wegner

Vera Pearl Wegner (Luthi) age 93, of Lake Zurich, IL passed away on April 19, 2024. Vera was born in Detroit, KS on June 10, 1930 to Rosa and Godfred Luthi.

Vera spent her childhood on a farm, and later attended Brown Mackie Business School. She married John Wegner on February 22, 1950 and together were blessed with eight children. John and Vera traveled extensively in their private airplane, including winters in Arizona and visiting family. When Vera and John retired, they moved to Siren, WI and purchased a mobile home park. After John passed away, Vera moved back to Kansas by her siblings. She spent her last year in Lake Zurich, IL enjoying the company of residents, staff, and frequent visitors at Cedar Lake Assisted Living. Her many passions included sewing, quilting, coloring, doing cross-word puzzles, and playing cards. Above all, Vera loved the Lord and being surrounded by her large family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosa and Godfred Luthi; husband, John Wegner; daughter, Cynthia Flodin; son-in-law, Bill Link; three sisters and two brothers.

Vera is survived by her children, Barbara (Keith) Swichtenberg, Janice Link, Carol (Chuck) Wendt, Diana Wegner, Linda (Warren) Heir, David (Janis) Wegner, Tamora (Jon) Ramsdell; brother, Harold (Sheryl) Luthi; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.

Funeral Services for Vera Pearl Wegner (Luthi), 93, of Lake Zurich, will be at 9:00 AM on Friday, April 26th at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 24500 N Old McHenry Rd, Hawthorn Woods, IL.

Interment will take place on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Viola Lake Cemetery in Siren, WI.
