Trudy Mae Smiley – Spencer , age 53 of Danbury, WI, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 at her home. Trudy was born on December 19, 1963 in Frederic, WI, to parents, Doug and Bonnie (Pardun) Smiley of Danbury. She grew up 3.5 miles west of Danbury on her parent’s farm. She attended grade school at Danbury Elementary and graduated from Webster High School in 1982. Trudy attended church at Danbury Evangelical Free Church where she wrote songs and she and many cousins and friends performed them while she accompanied them on guitar. Trudy enjoyed music. She played many instruments and had a beautiful singing voice. She loved fishing, hunting and being around family and friends always having a grin and a witty remark handy. She took her nephew and cousins fishing and taught them all a lot about fishing. Trudy worked at Capeside Cove nursing home in Siren for many years. Then she worked part-time for various employers while attending college. She graduated from Cambridge, MN with her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She moved back to Danbury in 2000 where she and her family and friends built her house on the St. Croix Trail on her parent’s property. She resided there until her passing. Trudy worked in auditing at the St. Croix Casino in Danbury for 14 years. She met her husband, Calvin Spencer in October of 2010 and they were married on July 16, 2011 in Danbury. Trudy was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, John and Pearl Smiley; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Louise Pardun; uncles: John Smiley, Herb Smiley, Willis Smiley, Earl Smiley, Robert Smiley and Carl Smiley; aunts: Betty Soens, Dorothy Terzinni, Mary Davis and Ruth Frizzell; uncles: Ernest Pardun, Stanley Pardun, Lyle Pardun, David Pardun, Danny Pardun, Howard Pardun; aunt, Barbara Wiswell; and Chopper (Spike) who was her best friend. Trudy is survived by her husband, Calvin Spencer; sister, Debi (Tony) Dunkley; nephew, Joel (Tiffany) Hunter; great-nephew, Joseph Julson (Katie); great-niece, Morgan Hunter (Possum); mother-in-law, Helen Spencer; brother-in-law, Larry (Denise) Spencer; niece, Kyleen Spencer; and lots of other family and friends who loved her. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00am (visitation from 10-11:00am) at the Swiss Town Hall with Pastor Brian Pardun officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service. Interment will be held at Danbury Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster.
