Tod Paulson

Tod W. Paulson, age 61, resident of Grantsburg, WI., passed away on February 6, 2025, at Burnett Medical Center with his loved ones by his side.

Tod was born on May 21, 1963, to parents Everett and Judy Paulson in Minneapolis, MN.

Tod graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1982. After graduating Tod started his career as a Sanitation Engineer in 1985 at BFI which then became Allied Waste and then Republic Services. He worked for this company for over 35 years. After his retirement, Tod and his friend JD Glover started their own wood processing business called Knotty Boys. He took much pride in his work.

Tod married his first wife, Jaraldine, in June of 1993. To this union, their daughter Emily was born in March of 1994. They were together until 1996.

In 2014, Tod married Donna Anderson. They were together until 2018.

Tod had a deep passion for the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, gun smithing with his good friend Les Pichelman, and enjoyed sharing his love of hunting by teaching kids to hunt. He was a frequent gun donor with Squirrels Unlimited.

Tod was a very kind and caring person who would often put other’s needs before his own. He thrived on spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors.

Tod is survived by his daughter, Emily Paulson (Erik); brother, Mark Paulson (Denise Olson); sisters, Susan Wilkus (Jim) and April Freeman (Dan); nieces and nephews, Ellen Eckhardt (Andrew), Spencer Ferry (Becca), Kelsey Fiedler (Tristan), Holly Fiedler, Faith Fiedler; great nephew, Bowen Ferry; uncle, Joe Paulson (Judy); aunts, Sandra Olson, and Teresa Ellingsworth (Jess).

Service will take place on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM (visitation from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg, WI., with Dianne Brask officiating. Burial will follow at the Trade Lake Swedish Mission Cemetery in Frederic, WI, with JD Glover, Paul Carlson, Mark Unnasch, Erik Olson (Emily’s fiancé), Spencer Ferry, and Erik Olson (cousin).
