Thomas Charles "Tom" Scheltens, age 63, of Webb Lake, WI passed away unexpectedly at his home in Webb Lake Township, Burnett County on Sunday, November 19, 2017. Tom was born on July 7, 1954 in Hinsdale, IL to John George and Lorraine Sophia (Nord) Scheltens. He grew up in Clarendon Hills, Illinois in the western suburbs of Chicago. He attended Notre Dame grade school and was a 1972 graduate of Hinsdale Central High School. Tom went on to earn his Associate's Degree from the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. While in high school and in college he worked summers and part time with his older brothers doing home improvement construction to include building garages, installing new roofs, siding and gutters. In the mid 70's he helped build his brother Jim's home in northern Indiana. After he moved to Webb Lake Township, Wisconsin he worked with his father to install water wells in Burnett County and build a home on Lilly Lake. He continued through life to be self-employed and enjoyed doing handy work for many years in mechanics and home construction. Following the death of his father, Tom spent the next 7 years caring for his mother in their home on Lake Nicaboyne. Outside of work, Tom loved to collect Coca Cola and M&M Memorabilia. He attended many local auctions in his search to find new and unusual pieces to add to his collection. Tom is the 3rd sibling of 6 brothers and sisters. He is survived by two older brothers, John P. Scheltens (Patricia) of Hot Springs, SD; James G. Scheltens (Shizhen) of Blaine, MN.; one younger brother, Donald H. (Cindy) Scheltens of Clarendon Hills, IL; and two younger sisters, Nancy E. Simpson of Wausau, WI.; and Linda L. (Robert) Gora of Clive, IA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Xinzhu Ai, Cody (Daria) Simpson, River Simpson, Holly Scheltens, Patricia Scheltens, Maeve Scheltens, and Autumn Gora. He is also survived by one aunt, Barbara Streit of Stacyville, IA; and many cousins and other family and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Samantha Scheltens.
