Tom was born on July 7, 1954 in Hinsdale, IL to John George and Lorraine Sophia (Nord) Scheltens. He grew up in Clarendon Hills, Illinois in the western suburbs of Chicago.  He attended Notre Dame grade school and was a 1972 graduate of Hinsdale Central High School.  Tom went on to earn his Associate's Degree from the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. While in high school and in college he worked summers and part time with his older brothers doing home improvement construction to include building garages, installing new roofs, siding and gutters. After he moved to Webb Lake Township, Wisconsin he worked with his father to install water wells in Burnett County and build a home on Lilly Lake.  He continued through life to be self-employed and enjoyed doing handy work for many years in mechanics and home construction.  Following the death of his father, Tom spent the next 7 years caring for his mother in their home on Lake Nicaboyne. Outside of work, Tom loved to collect Coca Cola and M&M Memorabilia.  He attended many local auctions in his search to find new and unusual pieces to add to his collection.  Tom is the 3rd sibling of 6 brothers and sisters.  He is survived by two older brothers, John P. Scheltens (Patricia) of Hot Springs, SD; James G. Scheltens (Shizhen) of Blaine, MN.; one younger brother, Donald H. (Cindy) Scheltens of Clarendon Hills, IL; and two younger sisters, Nancy E.
