Steven Leroy Taylor, age 76, of Anoka, formerly a summer resident of Devils Lake in Webster, WI passed away quietly on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Homestead Care Facility in Anoka. Steve was born in Ericsberg, MN, on May 13, 1938 to Arthur & Edna (Berg) Taylor. Steve was a SSGT in the US Army for four years during the Vietnam Era. He met Karen Ostlund, and they married on June 24, 1966 at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka. Together they raised four boys. Steve worked for 30+ years as a Paramedic for Allina. After his retirement from emergency medicine, Steve returned to college, at The University of Minnesota and became a licensed Funeral Director. Steve spent his retirement working with his sons at Taylor Funeral Homes. Steve enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing, reading and hunting with the Erickson Brothers. Steve is the past President of the SUPERNUTS Lodge. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Karen; sons, Tim (Casey Swantek) of Nisswa; Pat (Stacey) of Webster, WI; Michael (Nicole) of Bloomington; Kelly (Stacy) of Coon Rapids; sister, Audrey (Jerry) Fiereck of AZ; brother, Jim (Janell) of Brooklyn Park; sister-in-law, Marlys Fickle of Brooklyn Park; brother-in-law, Dave (Coralee) Ostlund, of Nisswa; grandchildren, Alec (Devyn Mudgett); Anna; Molly; Lauren(Alex Propson); Katelynn; Lexi; Karlee; Raquel; Tommy; Ava; Nathan; Andrew and Alex. Steve is preceded in by his parents; brother, Tommy; baby sister, Mary Louise. A funeral service celebrating Steve’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 11AM at Zion Lutheran Church (4th and Adams, Anoka). Visitation will be at Taylor Funeral Home (850 East Main Street, Anoka) on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 4-8PM, and also one hour prior to the service, Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Forrest Hill Cemetery in Anoka. Memorials are preferred in lieu of Flowers.
