Shirley J. Nelson, 88, a resident of Grantsburg died Thursday, May 27, 2021.
Shirley was born in Falun on December 6, 1932 to parents, Fred and Agnes Johnson.
On May 31, 1953 she married John W. Nelson at the Baptist Church in Grantsburg.
Shirley, born and raised in Falun was also known by many as the “No. 1 Falun Girl”. Her love of the Falun area was clearly recognized as she helped reestablish the Falun Settlers Cemetery.
Shirley was an avid gardener who enjoyed gardening and helped take care of the flowers at Burnett Medical Center CCC. She was the founder of the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Pine City, MN as well as Tyler, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Nelson; daughter, Theresa Nelson; parents, Fred and Agnes Johnson; her sister, Elsie Brown and brother, Kenneth Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Linnea (Rick) Seume and Aaron Nelson; grandchildren, Claire Nelson and Ben (Brook) Seume; great grandchildren, Aria, Kora and Livi; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A private burial will be held at the Wood River Cemetery.
