Shirley Lee Johnson, age 74, a resident of Grantsburg, WI passed away on August 20, 2022 at home.
Shirley was born on May 5, 1948 in Frederic, WI to parents Leroy and Dorothy Lundeen. Shirley graduated from Frederic High School then attended UW of Superior for 3 years earning her associates degree in elementary education.
Shirley married the love of her life David Johnson on April 7, 1969. They had 3 children together Tammy, Debbie and Jason.
Shirley worked multiple jobs ending with retirement form Parker Hannifin after 25 years. Shirley was the Girl Scout Troop Leader while her daughters attended. She was very active in participating in her children and grandchildren’s activities that included their sports like hockey, baseball, softball and volleyball. Some of the activities she enjoyed with her friends were dancing in musicals, golfing, bowling, canoe trips, and most often lately her Tuesday ladies luncheon groups.
Shirley enjoyed spending her time with her great grandsons and watching them grow. She was an avid crocheter and quilter. She always greeted each family addition with a lovingly made afghan of their own whether it was a birth, graduation or wedding. Her latest projects had been making quilts for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley touched so many people’s lives in such a great way. She will be greatly missed by many.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Dorothy Lundeen; uncles, Martin Lundeen, Floyd Lundeen, Adolf Goodremote and Wesley Johnson; brothers-in-law, Curtis Christensen, Dale Johnson and Wink Johnson; sisters-in-law, Connie Coy and Bonnie Lee; aunts, Charlotte Johnson and LouAnn Goodremote; nephews, Steve Coy and Christ Coy; great niece, Emily Christensen.
Shirley leaves behind her loving husband, David; children, Tammy (Russell), Debbie (George) and Jason (Bobbi); 4 grandchildren, Russ (Dessie), Austin (Ashley), Lainie and Amanda; 2 great grandchildren, Kaeson and Wesley; sister, Karen Christensen; brother-in-law, Dennis (Gail) Johnson; along with many more relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 3:00 PM (visitation from 2:00 – 3:00 PM) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg. Online condolences can be made at www.swedberg-taylor.com.
