Roxanne Songetay (Ginwumbiz), age 60, of Danbury, WI passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 14, 2017. Roxanne was born in Frederic, WI, on July 25, 1956, to parents, Edwin and Jean (Staples) Songetay. She was a 1976 graduate of Webster High School. She is preceded in death by her father, Edwin Songetay; a daughter, in infancy; sister, Jeannie Gayle Songetay; and brothers, Michael Lee Songetay and Lawrence Sutton. Roxanne is survived by her mother, Jean Songetay; her spouse, Delbert Benjamin, Sr.; children: Shawn Michael Songetay (Amber Skinaway), Jeannie Gayle Bradshaw, Terrence Douglas Songetay, and Delbert Benjamin, Jr.; grandchildren: Emily Ann Songetay, Shawn Michael Stevens, Jenna Marie Songetay, Lily May Songetay, and Hannah Jean Songetay; and great-grandchild, Axel Jay Songetay. She is also survived by siblings: Shirley Wegan, Sharon Songetay, Edwin Songetay, Beverly Benjamin, Donald “Charlie” Songetay, and Martin Songetay. Relatives and friends may call after 5:00 pm, Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the St. Croix Danbury Tribal Hall, Danbury, WI. The funeral service for Roxanne will be conducted at the Danbury Tribal Hall beginning at 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 18th, with Elder Larry Smallwood officiating. Interment will be in Danbury Cemetery following the service. Casket bearers are Dennis Staples, Lawrence “Butch” Sutton, Kurt Matrious, Mark Stoner, Jr., Tony Miner, and Ronald Garbow.
