Roland “Rollie” Canfield, age 85, a resident of Siren died November 30, 2010 in Wickenburg, Arizona. Rollie was born on February 6, 1925 in Los Angeles, California to Harry and Mabel Canfield. He was raised in Los Angeles and graduated from Manual Arts High School in 1943. During his youth Rollie was active in Boy Scouting and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Rollie later enlisted in the United States Navy serving until 1946. Following his military service he returned to California and began working for Pacific Bell Telephone. Rollie married Mary Jane Schmitz and they later transferred to Minnesota in 1949 and began working for Northwest Bell where he worked until retiring after 33 years of service. During that time he was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Minneapolis. They later moved to Siren in 1979. Rollie began wintering in Wickenburg, Arizona in 2004. There he met and married Lois Heffner in 2007. Rollie was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Jane in 2003; and Lois Heffner in 2009; his son Steven R. Canfield in 2009; brother Roy Canfield; sisters Jeanette Beckman, Dorothy McIntyre and Evelyn Baker. He is survived by his sons, Scott B. (Cheryl) Canfield, Monte R. (Vicki) Canfield; grandchildren Ian and Alica Canfield, Amanda and Stephanie Canfield; 2 great grandchildren Grace Canfield and Olivia DelMaine. Memorial service will be Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 1:00 PM (visitation 12-1 PM) at Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Webster with Pastor Steve Ward officiating. Burial will be at Viola Lake Cemetery.
