Rodney was thrust into the work force at the young age of 15 due to his father’s illness. Along with his brother Jerry they ran their father’s trucking business until 1953 when he joined the Army. While in high school Rodney met the love of his life Betty Lockert. They dated all through high school and later married at the English Lutheran Church of Grantsburg in 1955. Rodney loved life and made the most of each day. He kept very busy after retirement at the age of 62. They enjoyed taking off with Rods favorite truck & 5th wheel for 17 years during the winter months. Rodney loved family, friends, church, The Packers, spending time with the grand kids, sporting events, birthday parties, the lasting friendship’s made while traveling, board and card games with friends , golfing with Betty and Friends in Grantsburg, never missed a game of his boys in HS and traveling to watch all Dave & Paul’s UWRF FB games, Canadian fishing trips, working at the cabin, fall walks with Betty, creating and maintaining trails for the ATV, fall hunting seasons but sometimes needed extra patience with his sons.
