Robert Unger

Robert “Rob” M. Unger , age 73, of Frederic, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Frederic Nursing and Rehab. Rob was born on January 9, 1944 in St. Paul, MN., to parents, Margaret (Simon) and John Unger. Rob attended Princeton High School. Rob worked in construction for 30 years. When construction slowed down, he also drove semi for Bjorklund in Buffalo, MN., and later at Pullman in Wadena, MN., for 6 years. On March 6, 2008, Rob married Merribeth LaVenture. Rob enjoyed fishing, camping, playing horseshoes and loved to garden. He spent most of his time outdoors and was a hobby farmer for many years. Preceding Rob in death are his parents; brother, Steve Unger; sister, Marian Carlson; nephews, Michael Unger and Joseph Lambert. Rob is survived by his loving wife, Merribeth Unger; children: Rob Jr. (Terri) Unger, Tony Unger, Rick (Wendy) Unger and Randy (Lynn) Unger; step-son, Ryan LaVenture; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Mary Lou Lambert, John (Carol) Unger, Joann Lambert and Russell (Kandy) Unger; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017  at 1:00pm (visitation from 12-1:00pm) at the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster with Father Mike Tupa officiating. Interment will be held at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Webster. Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster.
