Robert "Bob" Peterson , age 88, of Grantsburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg. Bob was born on November 4, 1928 in St. Paul, MN., to parents, Rose (Coon) and Joel Peterson. Bob enlisted in the United States Navy on February 26, 1946 and was stationed in Guam. He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1947. On June 5, 1954 Bob was united in marriage to Mavis Ramsdell. They lived together at their home and hobby farm in Daniel's Township. Bob was a farmer for many years and also had dairy cows. He was also later employed by Parker-Hannifin as a machinist in Grantsburg for 10 years. Bob enjoyed spending time observing wildlife, riding horses and trips to Montana where he would hunt antelope and mule deer. He enjoyed spending time with the Ramsdell sisters and family gatherings. He also liked visiting the casino and the Midwest Country Music Theatre in Sandstone, MN. In most recent years, he was very fond of his home at the CCC in Grantsburg. He liked listening to Milton Johnson and Joe Lener every Tuesday, Bible study on Thursdays, and Bingo on Fridays. Preceding Bob in death are his parents; grandson, Chad Meyer; and the Ramsdell sisters and husbands. Bob is survived by his son, Roger Peterson; daughter, Rhonda (Dawn) Peterson; daughter-in-law, Margo Peterson; grandchildren: Mollie, James (Taylor), Shawn (Taffy), Kayla (Willy) and Rocky; step-grandchildren, Kristin (Jacob) and Sandra (Adam); great-great grandchildren, Averi, Pepper, Faith, Jaylyn, Caine, Kaylee, Julia, Adriana, Aubrey and Chad. The Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Ekdall Cemetery in Grantsburg with Pastor Jay Ticknor officiating. Full military honors will commence at the graveside. A fellowship luncheon and gathering will be held following the service at the Grantsburg American Legion. Honorary Pallbearers are: James Meyer, Shawn Peterson, Willy Taylor, Jacob Kingsley, Adam Bolle and Rocky Peterson. Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg.
