Robert E. Falkner, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2011 at the home that he built, loved and lived in located in the Town of Long Lake in Washburn County, Wisconsin. Robert was born on August 18, 1922 to Frank and Francis Opal (Rewey) Falkner in Barron, Wisconsin. He was raised and attended school in Barron. He was united in marriage to Norma Hudson on November 24, 1946 in Long Beach, California. Robert was a World War II Veteran and served for 26 years in the Merchant Marines, where he worked as a chief engineer. He enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors and loved playing cards and fishing. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Falkner, 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma Falkner of Sarona, Wisconsin; children, Michael E. (Nan) Falkner of Lenexa, Kansas, Richard E. (Jeannette) Falkner of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Patrick N. (Debbie) Falkner of Littleton, Colorado, Peggy J. (Paul) Hogan of Sarona, Wisconsin and Sara J. (Robert) McCormick of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Severson of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Eleanor Falkner of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; and many other family members and friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Committal services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 9:00 AM at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner.
