Richard Louis Fickett, age 81, a resident of Danbury passed away Friday, May 18, 2018.
Richard was born on January 27, 1937 to parents, George and Angela (Bohlman) Fickett in Chicago, Illinois.
Richard served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1962 in Fort Bliss, Texas.
He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Grieco on August 1, 1959 in Evergreen Park, Illinois.
Richard worked for the Chicago Board of Education for 30 years as a carpenter.
Richard’s faith was strong. He served as a Eucharist Minister in the Catholic Church, assisting the Priest during communion. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson and was a member of The Duluth Minnesota Chapter of H.O.G (Harley Owners Group).
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephews, Michael D. Hill and Steven R. Luebben.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Mary; children, Donna (Bob) Walsh and Debbie (John) Fickett-Sass; 4 grandchildren, Kristi (Kevin) Kaiser, Andrea Vitucci, Marissa (Luke) Lally, and Eric Walsh; 6 great grandchildren, Dominic Vitucci, Addison Kaiser, Andrew Kaiser, Aubree Kaiser, Austin Kaiser, and Autumn Kaiser; along with many relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Sacred Heart of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church with Father Michael Tupa as celebrant. There will be another Mass to honor Richard on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:30 (visitation 9:30-10:30 AM) at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Evergreen Park, Illinois.
