Reed Bogardus

December 28, 1956 — January 18, 2020

Reed William Bogardus , age 63, of Grantsburg, passed away on January 18, 2020, after a courageous battle with lung cancer at the Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg. Reed was born on December 28, 1956, to parents, Betty (Mulville) and William Bogardus. He graduated from North Collins Central High in 1974. In 1975, Reed enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1977. On July 2, 2002, Reed was united in marriage to Becky Lynn Schneider. Reed was a mechanic for twenty years, he liked to fix cars and tinker on various projects in his garage. He also worked for Honeywell in the GPS Guidance Department for the last 21 years. Reed enjoyed bowling, cribbage, camping, fishing, riding motorcycle and spending time with his grandchildren. Preceding Reed in death are his parents, William and Betty Bogardus; brother Paul Allen; brother-in-law, Jerry Hill; and grandchildren, Edward Prine and Violet Prine. Reed is survived by his loving wife, Becky Bogardus; children: Michele (John) Baumgardner, Michael Bogardus, David (Ashley) Prine and Jake (Traci) Prine; brothers, Brian Bogardus and Scott Bogardus; sister, Judy Baker; brothers-in-law, Robert (Marsha) Schneider and Ronald Schneider; sisters-in-law, Rose Hill and Bonnie Kasigi; parents-in-law, Charles and Fern Schneider; grandchildren: Evelyn, Haily, Sophia, David Jr., Sven, Nikki, Charlie, Tyron, LeLand, Bryson, Noah, Cheyenne and Amelia; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Graveside Service with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, Assembly Area #4, at 1:00pm at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN, with Pastor Phil Gotsch officiating.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster.
