Raymond R. Granquist, age 69, of Grantsburg, passed away accidentally while pulling a tree down with his tractor on the home farm where he lived, late Sunday afternoon, October 22, 2017. Raymond was born on July 13, 1948 to Oscar and Elvina (Carlson) Granquist. He attended Branstad Grade School and High school in Grantsburg, but he did not graduate. He lived and farmed on the home place for several years. He quit farming in the 1990’s and then worked at various jobs in the area including WS trucking in St. Croix and Valley Hardwood in Luck. He enjoyed tractors and machinery. Even though he no longer farmed, he still enjoyed driving the tractor with the brush cutter and making trails in the woods. Raymond was a hard worker and liked to keep busy. He was especially compassionate and considerate of older people and concerned for their well being. He will be deeply missed. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty (Wayne) Woodruff; and sister, Barbara Haakenson; brother-in-law, Gerald Cambronne. He is survived by his sister, Beverly Cambronne; brothers, Orren Granquist and Orville (Estelle) Granquist; nephews: Craig (Sandra) Cambronne, Kevin (Mary Kay) Cambronne, David (Regina) Woodruff, Ted (Tammy) Haupt; nieces: Carol Woodruff, Linda (Chris) Jensen, Kelly (Zach) Smeltzer, Tracy (Robert) Day; and many other relatives and friends.
