Pearl Hedlund

Pearl A. Hedlund , age 90, of Grantsburg, WI, passed away on May 26, 2018 at Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg. Pearl was born on October 1, 1927 in Siren, WI to parents, Goldie (Mckenzie) and Christian Rasmussen. She attended Siren Schools and went on to attend and graduate from Superior. Pearl taught in Haines, AK from 1948-1949. On October 1, 1949, Pearl was united in marriage to C. Gerald Hedlund. Together they raised three children. Pearl taught at Siren, Frederic, Bass Lake and Grantsburg schools until her retirement in 1989. She loved flowers, teaching, gardening, going for coffee and trips to Key West. She was also fond of “car shopping” and her beloved cat, Elijah. Above all else, Pearl loved spending time with her granddaughters. Preceding Pearl in death are her parents; husband, C. Gerald Hedlund; daughter, Mary; and sister, June. Pearl is survived by her children, Paul (Sue) Hedlund and Susan (Scott) Augustson; grandchildren: Alyssa (Dan), Lindsey (Tyler) and Gretchen; and her beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5:00PM - 8:00PM at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 1:00pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Grantsburg.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster.
