Patricia Kokesch

Patricia "Patty" Kokesch was a caring mother, partner, grandmother, sister and friend who left this world on January 24, 2022. She was 68 years young. Born on May 16, 1953 to James and Elizabeth Slavik, she was number 11 in a family of 14 children. She was born and raised in North Minneapolis and Graduated from North High in 1971.

Her sisters were her best friends, and being a loving partner and grandmother was her life. Patty loved her garden and fishing, and was known for a green thumb and delicious homemade dishes. Her door was always open and was mom and grandma to many she called family. She met her partner Tim 36 years ago and made Grantsburg her home where they raised their blended family.

She was preceded in death by her partner, Tim McKnight; parents, James and Elizabeth Slavik; son, Robert Kokesch; brothers, David, James, Leslie, Gary and Wade Slavik; sisters, Elizabeth (Dennis) Johnson and Irene Farrell.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Corinne and Jared Kokesch, and Denel and Yvonne McKnight; grandchildren, Ethan, Maxwell, Amanda, Andrew and River; sisters, Darlene (Cliff) Melland, Sheila (Ed) Boehler, Linda (Earl) Plunkett, Velda (Lyle) Melland, Dayle (Lefty) Hyde; and brother Ward Slavik; many nieces and nephews; and also her chosen "adopted" children and grandchildren of which there are many.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday February 12, 2022 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post 185 in Grantsburg WI.
