Myrtle “Myrt” L. Snow, age 87, a resident of Siren died August 7, 2011 at Burnett Medical Center Continuing Care Center. Myrtle was born on June 22, 1924 in Webster to Ralph and Agnes Connor. As a young girl, her family moved to Indian Creek where she attended school. Myrtle lived in Red Wing, Minnesota from 1927 until 1930 before moving to Minneapolis. She married Leslie on December 26, 1943 in Webster, Wisconsin. She worked as a laundry worker at Royal Laundry from 1948-1952 and then for Lawrence & North West Linen from 1952-1972. They made their home in Columbia Heights until 1972 before returning to Wisconsin permanently. Myrt enjoyed her plants and flowers, feeding the birds and the squirrels, collecting agates, eating good food…especially fish, going to church, being with friends and with her family. She also loved her cats that she had throughout her life. They were her babies. While at the Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center she enjoyed bingo that she won at, card games and various other activities with all the residents there. Myrt was called the “Sunshine Girl”. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie on April 10, 1995; their infant children daughter Avis and son Leslie,Jr.; her parents Ralph and Agnes Connor; and her sister Violet Johnson. She is survived by her nephews Ronald Johnson (Barbara), Lonnie Johnson (Arliss), Edwin Johnson (Ann), niece Connie Keith (Chuck) with Connie’s children Ryan, Eric & Stephanie Keith that Myrt assumed the role of Grandma in place for her sister’s grandchildren and great grandchildren Aiden and Kaeden; along with other great nephews and great nieces; and her brother-in-law Wayne Snow (Barbara). Visitation will be Friday, August 12, 2011 from 5-8 PM at Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Webster. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church, Siren with Pastor Keith Rediske officiating. Music was provided by Fran McBroom. Interment followed at the Danbury Cemetery. Casketbearers were Ryan Keith, Eric Keith, Chad Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Tony Payson and Keith Johnson. Honorary casketbearer was Stephanie Keith.
