Myrna Thomas

Myrna Louise Cora Natzke Thomas of Siren passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Comforts of Home in Frederic. Myrna was born on March 1, 1923, in Birnamwood, Wisconsin to Reinhardt and Louella Natzke. She married Russell Thomas on June 2, 1938. They were married for 40 years and had 12 children. Myrna worked at several jobs which included Woolworth, Excelsior Amusement Park, Lyndale Garden Center, Kreske's , Fabri-Tech in Amery, Hinks Store in Siren, and the Siren Senior Center. Myrna worked at the Senior Center for the last 22 years of her working life. She always said the Center was her second home. The people there loved and supported her to the end of her life. Myrna loved gardening, especially flower gardening. She loved to play Scrabble, Bingo and card games with her family. She also enjoyed cake decorating ( especially wedding cakes) which she did for her family and many others in the community. Myrna was preceded in death by her parents; Reinhardt and Louella, her husband; Russell, her brothers Edward and Arlow Natzke; her children Carol, Russell and Jerry and one grandson Todd Engen. Myrna is survived by her children Pat (Tony) Larson, Bonnie (Doug) Johnson, Bev (Ray) Engen, Barb (Ken) Stern, Bruce (Janet) Thomas, Dawn (Storme) Nelson, Debbie (Jim) Jaskolka, Randy (Sherry) Thomas, Scott (Elaine) Thomas and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A visitation will be on Tuesday, July 30, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Siren Chapel. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 11:00AM with a visitation an hour prior to the service at Bethany Lutheran Church in Siren, Wisconsin with Pastor Paul Peterson officiating. Music will be provided by Doug Johnson and Dana Peterson. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Siren. Pallbearers will be Randy Thomas, Bruce Thomas, Scott Thomas, Troy Engen, Ray Engen, and Tony Larson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Jaskolka, Ken Stern, Doug Johnson, Storme Nelson and Murray Kuhnly. Arrangements entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Siren, Wisconsin.
