Muriel Alice Lupo passed away at the United Pioneer Home in Luck, WI on January 23, 2014. She was 93 years old. Muriel was born in Minneapolis, MN on Feb. 13, 1920 to Joy and Alice Morris. She graduated from West High School and later went to work on the passenger ships on the Great Lakes. There she met the love of her life, Joseph F. Lupo. The couple married on Nov 1, 1941 in Minneapolis. They were married for 56 years. They had four children, Joseph Lupo Jr., Linda Drews, David (Jane) Lupo, and Laurie (Steve) Chasteen. After her children were grown, she went to work for Dayton-Hudson as a personal shopper for 15 years. Muriel was also very involved in the Catholic Church. Muriel and Joseph retired to their cabin on Spirit Lake near Frederic, WI and enjoyed playing cards, taking pontoon rides, swimming, and entertaining their children and grandchildren at the lake. Muriel was a very proud mother and grandmother and had 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and took great joy and pride in her family. Muriel moved to the Big Gust apartments in Grantsburg and then later moved to the United Pioneer Home where she spent the last 5 years. She loved the staff at UPH and enjoyed her years there Muriel was preceded in death by her brother Bud, parents, one great grandchild, and her husband. She is survived by her brother Ed Morris, Jimmy Morris, her children, all of her grandchildren and 8 of her great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of family and God, songs, homemade cookies, soup, and her excellent driving skills. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 5-8 PM at Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Grantsburg Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grantsburg. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Friday.
