Maurice Johnson

Maurice L. Johnson , age 60, of Trade Lake Twp., passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at his residence with his wife by his side.
Maurice was born on November 13, 1956 in Grantsburg to parents, Ruth (Peterson) and Lester Johnson. Maurice attended the Bass Lake School and later graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1974. He then went on to votec school and became a machinist. Maurice worked for Electric Machine Company as a machinist for a few years. Then in 1981, he bought his own farm in Wood River Twp., which he owned and operated until 2003. On September 20, 1986, Maurice married his sweetheart, Suzy Erickson. Maurice enjoyed bowling, trap shooting, hunting, fishing, farming and collecting tractors. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, whom he loved unconditionally. Preceding Maurice in death are his parents. Maurice is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Suzy; children: Jason (Doni) Johnson, Stina Johnson and Jade (Clint) Mielke; grandchildren: Mackenna, Carter, Trenton, Masen, Braylen, Hailey and Baby “M” on the way; sister, Lynnea Johnson and Nylene (Kenneth) Wicklund; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 4-8:00pm at the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg. The Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00am (visitation from 10-11:00am) at the Zion Lutheran Church in Trade Lake Twp. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Chell, David Wicklund, Weedy McKeag, Pete Branstad, Paul Hedlund, Melissa McQuay, Al Melin, Don Wicklund and Darryl Doornink.
