Matthew Caroon

Matthew George Caroon, age 64, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at his home in Grantsburg, WI. Matthew was born on July 31, 1952 in Grand Rapids MN to George and Viola (Harvey) Caroon. Matt graduated from Hibbing High School in 1971. He was an outdoorsman, who loved to hunt with his father, brothers and friends. He also loved to fish on the river, Raspberry Landing was his favorite spot. He was a very loving man and always had a way with words. Matt is survived by his children, Jarrod Caroon of Superior, WI and Amanda Caroon of St. Paul MN; 2 grandchildren, Brecken and Nevaeh Caroon; 3 brothers: Darryl (Debra) Caroon of Pengilly MN, Duane (Cindy) Caroon of Hibbing MN, Daniel Caroon of Kelly Lake MN: 4 sisters: Sharon (Terry) Hedberg of Coon Rapids MN, Kathy Dahl of Grantsburg WI, Jamie (Kevin) Liukkonen of Apple Valley MN and Jennifer (David) Rogers of Lanesboro MN; longtime loving companion, Deb Blair of Grantsburg WI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Viola; step-mother, Mary; his sister, Mary Jo; and infant brother, James Caroon. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hummer’s Rendezvous 115 E Madison Ave; Grantsburg, Wisconsin 54840 on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 6:00pm. There will be a ceremony held in the spring.
