Mary E. Koessel, age 90, a resident of Danbury passed away on June 30, 2021.
She was born in Danbury on the Indian Reservation on April 23, 1931, to parents, Frank R. and Delia Phelps.
She attended grade school and graduated from Webster High School as Valedictorian. She moved to Minneapolis and worked at First National Bank (now US Bank) until retiring in 1984 as Vice President of Human Resources in charge of Compensation and Benefits. She moved around the Minneapolis and St. Paul areas before moving back to Danbury in 1995.
Mary was a member of Our Lady of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Danbury. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, hunting and fishing, playing golf and cards with friends. She also liked to travel and see new places.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Delia; sister, Dorothy.
She is survived by her children, Joseph Gensch, William Gensch, and Kathryn (Bob) Rohl; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Frank (Jerry) Phelps, Lenore Sewell, and Bob (Rosemary) Phelps; along with other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 1:00 PM (visitation 11AM-1 PM) at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Webster.
