Mary Becvar

Mary Elizabeth Becvar, age 79, of Wood River Township, WI, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at her residence. Mary was born on December 20, 1937 in Spooner, WI to parents, Alice (Meronk) and Charles Christner. She attended Spooner High School. On February 2, 1957, Mary was united in marriage to Merlin Becvar. Together they raised three children. Mary was a skilled baker and enjoyed cooking. She was a homemaker and caregiver all of her life. Her family was truly her pride and joy. She will be deeply missed, but the memories she left behind will always be cherished. Preceding Mary in death are her parents; grandson, Brandon Fossum; siblings: Mabel, Donald, Vernon, Connie, Elaine, Charles and Jenny. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Merlin; children: Chuck Becvar, Mya (Doug) Zschokke and Sandy Fossum; grandchildren: Shannon, Lindsey (Matt), Cory (Natalie), Ashley (David) and Alison; great-grandchildren: Chelsea, Jarrod, Alyssa, Tavia, Mason, Amina Lou; 1 great-great grandchild, Brecken; sisters: Joyce, Evelyn, Ethel and Carol; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A private family Celebration of Life Gathering will be held. Interment will be held at the Wood River Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg.
