Marie Sykes

Marie Ellen Sykes,  age 69, of Siren, passed away suddenly on February 1, 2020, at her home.    Marie was born on June 7, 1950, to parents, Beatrice (Smother) and Frank Coon.    On August 26, 1968, Marie married Paul Armstrong. From this union, two sons were born, Paul Edwin and Kurt Kenneth. And in 1976, the couple separated.     On August 27, 1989, Marie married Robert Sykes. They shared 9 years together until his passing in February of 1998.    Marie enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and snowmobiling. She also enjoyed baking, cooking and above all else, spending time with her family.    Preceding Marie in death are her parents; two children at birth, Darrell Steven Armstrong and Angela Marie Armstrong; brother, Richard Coon; brother-in-law, Joe Romportl; second husband, Robert Sykes; and grandson, Brandon Michael Armstrong.    Marie is survived by her sons, Paul (Renda) Armstrong Jr. and Kurt (Michelle) Armstrong; grandchildren: Jacob Ryan Armstrong, Shawnee Marie Armstrong, Anna Rose Armstrong, Alex (Mary) Armstrong, William (Olivia) Sweeney, Morgan (Alex) Sweeney, Crista Val (Alex) Sobota, Nate Armstrong, Zander Armstrong, Alex Armstrong and Gaven Armstrong; sisters: Charlotte Romportl, Bonnie (Kenneth) Strenke, Sheila Erickson and Gail Coon; brother, Jerome (Janet) Coon; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.    A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at 11:00am (visitation from 10-11:00am) at Skinner Funeral Home in Rice Lake. Interment to be held at a later date at Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake.    Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster.
