Margaret Rose “Marge” Knudson, age 67, of Danbury (Jackson Twp), WI, passed away Saturday evening, January 3, 2015. Marge was born in Chippewa Falls, WI, on June 28, 1947, a daughter of the late Meldern and Roma (Paulus) Phillips. As a daughter of a career U.S. Army non-commissioned officer, Marge moved with the family every few years to different Army bases around the country and overseas. She attended many public and Dept. of Defense schools, and in 1965 she graduated from high school in El Paso, Texas. On April 26, 1969, Marge married Roger S. Knudson in Apple Valley, MN. He passed away October 16, 2009. She was employed by the American Red Cross for over 18 years, specifically providing assistance for Red Cross Blood Drives throughout the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and South Dakota. . She was involved in many capacities of this program, including driving trucks that transported the collected blood, and designing layouts of facilities hosting the blood drives, ensuring they were practical, accommodating, and efficient. After attending classes and passing the national and state exams in 2004, Marge received certification becoming a licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/ Paramedic. She was affiliated with North Memorial Ambulance Services for over 5 years. They made their home in Apple Valley, and spent a lot of their free time building, working on, and improving their log home in Burnett County, WI. After Roger passed away, Marge continued finishing the projects they had begun, including building a front porch. She loved the northwoods, and has lived at their log home since 2004. Over the years, Marge has befriended the many forest animals, including the deer and the bears, and providing special treats for all of them. Margaret was an active member of Yellow Lake Lutheran Church. She was a very hard working, amiable person, and exuded a powerful, yet calming, presence. Younger people looked up to her as a mentor and strove to emulate her. She carried herself with grace and dignity, and was well liked and respected by all. Marge is survived by a daughter, Dawn (Brent) Peterson; step-children: Dawn Knudson, Cynthia (Bill) Henderson, and Eric (Vicky) Knudson; grandchildren: Sarah Dunker, Jake Peterson, Jake Knudson, Connor Knudson, and Lauren Knudson; and great-grandchildren: Maxx Hamilton, Brodie Hoffstrom, and Silas Hoffstrom. She is also survived by brothers: Gary Phillips and Andrew Phillips; and sister, Pat Loeding. The memorial service honoring the life of Margaret Rose Knudson will be conducted at 1:00 pm (visitation 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm), on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Yellow Lake Lutheran Church, 7615 County Rd U, Danbury, WI, with Pastor Danny G. Wheeler officiating. A fellowship luncheon will follow the service. Honorary pallbearers are: Gary Phillips, Andrew Phillips, Maxx Hamilton, Brodie Hoffstrom, Jake Peterson, and Sarah Dunker. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, or the American Red Cross, www.redcross.org, are appreciated.
