Marcella Wedin

Marcella Wedin, 91, of Grantsburg, passed away quietly at home on February 14, 2021 with her son by her side.

Marcella was born March 1, 1929 to Claude and Marie Ramsdell of the Ekdall area of Grantsburg. She attended the Ekdall School and graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1947.

Marcella married Larry Wedin in a small, log church in McGregor, Minnesota, on September 13, 1960. They moved to Larry’s home farm by Little Wood Lake and had one son, Daryl, in November 1961.

Marcella was a longtime employee of Burnett County, starting her career as a dispatcher in the Sheriff’s office. She later moved to an administrative position in the Veteran’s Services Office.

Marcella retired from Burnett County in 1994 after working for the county for almost 23 years.

Marcella was an avid musician, playing the accordion, violin, banjo and guitar. When she was young, she and her dad would play music at house parties in the Ekdall area. She continued playing music in her retirement years as a member of the Kitchen Band, traveling the local area and playing music at parties. Marcella enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and tending her flower beds. She loved going to garage sales and spending time with her cousins and grandchildren.

Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Larry. She is survived by her son, Daryl (Cheryl), grandchildren Kjersten, Gustaf, Anna & Erika, and many family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
