Marc Warren Swanson, a resident of the rural Grantsburg area, died at his home on October 2, 2023, at the age of 73.
Marc was born on May 22, 1950, in Mout Prospect, Illinois to Jeanne and Warren Swanson. He went to elementary and high school in Mount Prospect. He graduated from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois with a degree in History. He also studied photography at the American Academy of Art in Chicago.
Marc was a man with many talents and had a varied career. He taught high school, worked as a professional photographer, and later stated his own business as a painter and handyman. His hobbies included photography and gardening. He gladly shared his garden produce with his neighbors. He loved animals, especially his cats, which he referred to as “my feline family.”
After spending his early years in Illinois, Marc lived for a time in Minneapolis, Minnesota, before moving to northern Wisconsin where he had many relatives. In his last 20 years he lived near Big Wood Lake.
Marc was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne and Warren Swanson; sister, Pamela Swanson; and brother-in-law, Hilton Behrmann.
He is survived by his sister, Laurey Behrmann; numerous cousins; and many friends.
A private celebration of Marc’s life was held on May 22, 2024, his 74th birthday.
