Lois Landis Johnson 6/1/1924 - 12/31/2020.
Lois was born to Roland and Nellie Landis at the family home in Gilberts, IL. After graduating from Albert Lea high school in 1942 Lois worked for the Western Union as a messenger and telegraph operator. While working there Lois met "the boss's nephew”, Alvin Lee Johnson ("Bud" "Lee"). They married on November 12, 1946. In the next eight years Bud and Lois lived in 20 different locations including the jungles of Venezuela, mountain tops in Trinidad, the Rio Grand Valley in Texas and finally bought a farm in Webster WI. In that time, they had two children, Michael Lee and Patti LoAnne.
Lois loved her family, gardening, playing the piano, sewing and all types of handcrafts. She
was an amateur radio operator, call sign KA0HJW. She especially loved the years she spent teaching Sunday school at the E.U.B., acting as a cub scout den mother, and working with handicapped children for South Washington County schools. Lois was a lifelong learner and was interested in everyone and everything.
Lois died at Regina Care Center in Hastings, MN at the age of 96. Many thanks to the wonderful people there that cared for her in the last years. You all became friends to Lois and to us.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years, brother David, sister Bernadine, brothers, and sisters in law and most recently, her beloved niece, Helen. She is survived by her children Mike and Patti, grandchildren Michelle, Laura and David, great grandchildren Jenessa, Juston, Dawson, Addison, Peyton and Hunter and many much-loved nieces and nephews.
A memorial to honor Lois will be held later due to Covid-19 restrictions.
