Lloyd Talmadge

February 6, 1931 — October 6, 2024

Lloyd William Talmadge, age 93 of Siren, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Frederic Nursing & Rehabilitation.

Lloyd was born on February 6, 1931 in New Haven, Dunn County, Wisconsin to Ernest and Viola Talmage. Lloyd left school and began working for various farmers in the area and then onto numerous factory positions, ending with North States in Siren. Lloyd moved on to working 38 years at Wards Resort in Balsam Lake as maintenance and grounds keeper where he made many lasting relationships. Even up until a couple of months ago, you could find Lloyd meeting some of the old resort group for breakfast in Frederic Wednesday mornings.

Lloyd was in the army and fought in the Korean war manning a M20 75mm recoilless rifle from 1951-1953. He was honorably discharged February 25, 1953 as Sergeant First Class.

Lloyd met his first wife Irene, while working at Friday’s Canning Factory. To this union seven children were born. They lived on a farm in Glenwood City until moving to Frederic in 1971.

Lloyd married Beatrice (Schultz) Morse on November 4, 1989. Together they enjoyed dancing, going out to eat, bus tours around the US and if you couldn’t find him, he’d be in his shop tinkering with something. He also enjoyed a good card game of 500 and was always trying to find the next great deal at an auction.

Lloyd had a strong, quiet faith in the Lord and lived it out by example on a daily basis.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice; sons, Michael and James Talmadge; siblings, Fern Wilbur, Carol Wilbur, Robert Talmage, Dorothy Maas, Betty Clark and Donald Talmage.

Lloyd is survived by his children; David (Beth) Talmadge, Wayne Talmadge, Glen (Kim) Talmadge, Nancy Matz and Karen Talmadge. Daughter-in-laws, Connie and Julie Talmadge. Stepchildren, Randy Morse, Laurie Morse, LuAnn (Don) Skidmore, Ron Morse and Alan (Dee) Morse, brother-in-law, Bill Clark; sisters-in-law, Joan Talmage and Bonnie Schultz, 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.

The funeral service for Lloyd is on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Webster, WI. Visitation 10 a.m. – 11 a.m., service at 11:00am with lunch to follow. Graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Frederic, WI. with Military Honors.
