Linda Anderson , age 72, of Grantsburg, passed away peacefully at her home on February 8, 2020.
Linda was born on April 10, 1947, in Siren. She graduated from Siren High School in 1965. She then went on to attend the Polk County Teacher’s College. Over the years, Linda was a substitute teacher for various local schools. She also worked at Holiday Gas Station in Siren, North States also in Siren, and Jed’s North Star in Grantsburg. Linda was employed for 30 years by the Burnett County Government Center first starting out in the probation office, then to county clerk and ultimately retiring in 2010 from the Veteran’s Service Office.
Linda volunteered at the Grantsburg Food Shelf and also served as the Food Shelf President. She also volunteered at the New Horizon’s Thrift Store in Pine City and as a Voter Registration Assistant for the Village of Grantsburg for a number of years.
Linda’s faith was very important to her. She was actively involved at New Hope Lutheran Church assisting in the kitchen and making homemade soups for Lent.
Linda was known as the Queen of garage sales. She enjoyed crafting and spending time outdoors fishing. She was notorious for out fishing just about anyone who would bring her along. She loved all animals, especially her beloved companion, Mister Kitty, with whom she spent the last several years with. But above all else, she loved her family and spending time with her granddaughters. She will be deeply missed.
Preceding Linda in death are her parents, Louise and Siegfried Koch; Kurt’s father, Ross Vail; and brother, Larry Koch.
Linda is survived by her son, Kurt (Tracy) Vail; Kurt’s brother, Chris (Liesl) Fleming; granddaughters, Melissa (Alex) and Miranda (Josh); great-granddaughters, Chloe, Gabby and Miia; brother, Lanny (Rhonda) Koch; sister, Luann (Bruce) Hochstetler; sister-in-law, Janet Koch; half-sisters, Terry and Cheryl; special friends Mariea, Carol, and Lexi; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 1:00pm (visitation from 12-1:00pm) at New Hope Lutheran Church in Grantsburg, with Pastor Emory Johnson officiating.
