Lawrence Matrious

Lawrence (Larry) Matrious, Medwekamiginang passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 18, 2019 at the age of 80.
Husband (married to the love of his life, Cheryl for 58 years), father to Rod, Candi (Mike), Randy (Denise) and Troy; grandfather to 8; great grandfather to 4; brother, uncle, cousin, friend, proud Anishinaabe, welder, craftsman, bowler, ball player, hunter, fisher, golfer and jokester.  A dog dad to his beloved Trixie. His loving soul and silly spirit will come down and through the many family and friends who loved him.
Popie – we love you endlessly and miss you dearly. We will meet again in the happy hunting grounds.
Larry is also survived by his sisters, Brenda (Mike) Lilly and Christina (Gene) Salay; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Troy; brother, Jim; sisters, Bernice and Katherine.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 beginning at 6:00 PM at the Lake Lena Community Center. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Lake Lena Community Center in Sandstone. Lee Staples will officiate. Pallbearers are Dan Matrious, Harold Matrious, Jim Matrious, Geno Salay, Thom Kainz, Kent Halbenlieb.  Honorary pallbearers are Carlos Hernandez, Rick Benjamin, Gene Salay, Leonard Butler, Mike Lilly, Jeff Matrious, Greg Mischler and Kevin Sutton.  Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, WI.  Online condolences can be made at www.swedberg-taylor.com
