Lawrence Robert Denn, "Pup", age 61, of Frederic, WI, passed away July 24, 2015 at United Hospital, St. Paul, MN, after a long bout of undiagnosed illness. Lawrence was born October 30, 1953, in Hastings, MN, a son of the late William "Bill" and Josephine Gertrude "Phine" (nee Reuter) Denn. In March of 1970, the family moved to the Trade Lake area, where they enjoyed living on a small private lake. Lawrence worked many years with his brothers, Denn Construction, and later with his cousin. He worked installing sheetrock and drywall, did interior plaster and painting, and also stucco. He was later employed briefly with Stokeley's Bean factory in Frederic. He worked independently doing odd jobs for a time. Pup loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He raised chickens, and was proud of his garden; something he learned from the 'master' of gardening, his father. He loved animals, especially dogs, and had them all his life. Pup loved to cook; and learned from the best, that being his mother. He loved making homemade pizza and French fries, and his nieces and nephew enjoyed eating plenty of both! He had a sense of humor and loved to tease. Pup also professed a love for the Lord and gave Christ the credit for bringing him through many hardships in his life. He had the desire to be baptized, and had started a Bible study for this. Lawrence is preceded in death by his father, Bill, in September 2000, and his mother Josephine, on March 30th of this year; also brothers William H. Denn and Keith R. Denn. Pup took loving care of his mother after Bill passed, and the last few years of her life he was faithful to visit her almost every day when she went into the nursing home. Pup is survived by his sister, Patricia A. (Gary) Fender; and two brothers, Thomas W.Denn and Charles E. Denn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. A memorial service honoring the life of Lawrence "Pup" Denn will be held on Friday, August 7th at 6:00 pm at the Frederic Seventh Day Adventist Church, 605 Benson Rd, Frederic, WI with Pastor John Redlich officiating. There will also be a memorial visitation on Sunday, August 16th, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Springs St, Hastings, MN. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Arrangements have been entrusted with Swedbery-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Grantsburg, WI.
