Lawrence Bremer

April 29, 1920 — September 3, 2011

Lawrence M. Bremer, age 91, a resident of Bloomer, Wisconsin passed away at the Luther Midelfort Health System in Bloomer on Saturday, September 3, 2011 with his wife by his side. Lawrence was born on April 29, 1920 in Webster the son of George and Florence (Radamacher) Bremer. He was raised on the family farm and worked with his father. He also worked for the CCC from October 1939 until March 1940. He married his wife Edna M. Olson on June 22, 1940 and they moved to Newport, Minnesota where he worked for Cudahay’s Meat Plant. He served in the United States Army as a Private First Class from 1944 until being honorably discharged in 1946. Upon returning to Webster he worked for the local lumber yard while he took classes for television repair. He opened his own television repair shop at his home. In May of 1949, he began delivering mail for the US Postal Service and eventually phased out his television repair. He retired from the US Postal Service after 30 years of service. They moved to Bloomer in 1984 and have resided there since. Lawrence was always an avid hunter and fisherman and loved working in his vegetable and flower gardens. He spent many hours gardening for everyone to enjoy. He also enjoyed his woodcrafts, which you found him involved in constantly. In the winter you could always find him and Edna on a snowmobile trail. After his retirement he and Edna purchased a camper and enjoyed traveling all over including 5 trips to Alaska. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Harold, Jerome and Mike; sister Georgia; grandson Roderick Alonzo Spafford and Barry Pratt and great grandson Brent Coward, Jr. He will be sadly missed by his wife Edna of 71 years; nine daughters Loreli Stone , Valerie (Wayne) Knipfer, Janice Hornewer, Connie (Miles) Spafford, Vicki Hanson, Bonnie (Eddy) Bruss, LaVonne Mason, Patsy (Dale) Lokker, and Geri (Joe) Zacharias; his son George; 23 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law Marie Bremer and special friends and neighbors DeWayne and Karen; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial service Friday, September 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Webster with Father Mike Tupa as celebrant. Interment will follow at Northern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Spooner.
