LaVonne Smith of Frederic passed away February 18, 2014 at the age of 90 years. LaVonne was born February 26, 1923 in Clam Falls Township, Wisconsin to Myrtle (Larson) and Myron J. Peterson. LaVonne married John Smith on April 21, 1945 in Clam Falls and together raised four children. She enjoyed serving in Jesus’ Name, fishing, crocheting, gardening, flowers, bird-watching, and playing cards. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain family and friends. While the children were young, she attended the Clam Falls Lutheran Church and was a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. She was a long-time member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church in Lewis and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Indian Creek American Legion Auxiliary Post. LaVonne was a leader in the Lucky Clover 4-H Club and a member of the Homemaker’s Club. LaVonne is preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Myron Peterson, loving husband John Smith; brother, Milton Peterson; sister, Ruby Pellegrino; great grandson, Jonathan Smith. She will be dearly missed by daughters, Starr (Carl) Warndahl, Nancy (John) Orth; sons, Robert (Connie) Smith, Mike (Julie Fox) Smith; sister, Wanda Flanigan; grandchildren, Renee McAdee, Robbie Smith, Holly McAdee, Jean Smith, Nathan McAdee, Ross Smith, Becca Edaburn, Chance Orth, Amber Strese, Birch Orth, and Cooper Orth; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; best friend, Helen Sjodahl; Ian Martin, Nate Martin, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Lewis United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Cook and Pastor Gil White officiating. Music will be provided by Glory Train, Roger Johnson and Gloria Chell. Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Webster.
