LaVerne Mary “Andy” Fontaine, age 81, of Webb Lake, passed away Tuesday evening, May 27, 2014. She was born in St. Paul, MN, on July 25, 1932, a daughter of the late Theodore and Alice (Bibeau) Anderson. She was a 1951 graduate of White Bear High School. On July 21, 1951, LaVerne married her high school sweetheart, Roger F. Fontaine, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in White Bear. They lived in Maplewood, MN for quite a few years, and were members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in north St. Paul, MN. LaVerne and Roger moved to Webb Lake in April 1979, and attended Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Webb Lake Women’s Club. LaVerne, fondly called “Andy” by family and friends, was a remarkable woman. A devoted wife and mother, she cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, flower and vegetable gardening, as well as cooking, baking, and canning. Andy also loved to go camping and fishing, and appreciated a good round of golf. She had great memories of her 3 week long trip to Europe, and her travels to Las Vegas. Andy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roger; five children: Debbie (Wayne) Lundgren, Doug Fontaine, Dawn Fontaine, Dennis Fontaine, and Daniel (Debbie) Fontaine; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings: David Anderson and Rose Marie Astrup; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Anderson; brother-in-law, Richard (Elaine) Fontaine; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Alice Anderson; siblings: Donald and Betty; brother-in-law, Thomas Astrup; and brothers-in-law, Jerome (Lorraine) Fontaine and Eugene (Kitty) Fontaine. The Memorial Mass for LaVerne “Andy” Fontaine will be celebrated at 11:00 am (visitation 9:30am - 11:00am), Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, County Road H just north of County Road A, Webb Lake, with Fr. Mike Tupa officiating. A fellowship luncheon will follow the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated.
