Laura Forrest

Laura Ann Hoxworth-Forrest departed this Earth on November 16, 2020 and earned her Heavenly wings as she joined God as one of His Angels. She was 63 years young.

Laura was born to David Hoxworth and Patricia Dubose Hoxworth on November 29, 1956 in Sumter, SC but grew up in Ashwood, SC. She spent much of her adult life in Sumter but later moved to Hastings, MN. As a child, her father called her “Lollipop” and Laura never outgrew the moniker; she always took great delight in being referred to by her childhood nickname.

Laura leaves behind her loving partner of many years, David Ries of Hastings, MN. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Dubose Ries (Michael) of Ashwood, SC; sons Jamie Josey (Tory), Jason Josey (April), Jody Josey, and Joshua Josey, all of Sumter, SC, a daughter, Jennifer Josey-Wilson of Charleston, SC, stepdaughter, Kelly Ries of Hastings, MN; a brother Mike Hoxworth (Robin), a sister Deborah Gravermoen (Les) of Sumter, SC, and stepsiblings Jim Ries (Tracy) of Hastings, MN, Joan Ries (Mark) of Rochester, MN, and Jane Ries Bobzin of St. Paul, MN. She was proudly known as Grandma Lollipop to her 14 grandchildren: Halie Josey, Maggie Josey, Landon Josey, Kaitlin Josey, Michael Josey, Emily Josey, Taylor Gardenour, Jesse Josey, Jace Josey, Johnny Josey, Josh Josey, Casey Ries, Zoe Ries, and Iris Ries. Additionally, she leaves behind a number of grieved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Laura was preceded in death by her father, David Hoxworth, and a granddaughter, Aubrianna Layne Gardenour.

She will be remembered during an intimate service, the details of which are yet to be determined due to Covid-19 related restrictions.
