Kenneth James Vallin
August 1, 1936 – December 6, 2020

Kenneth James Vallin, son of Cloyd and Eva Vallin, was born August 1, 1936 and spent his childhood in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. He attended Marquette University before serving in the U.S. Army in Germany and then earned his teaching certificate at the Teacher’s College in Wood County. After moving to Kenosha with his wife and children, he earned his B.A. in Psychology at University of Wisconsin – Parkside. In later years, he completed additional studies at U.W. – Milwaukee and was a lifelong learner. Ken found his calling as a teacher, and he taught students of all ages throughout his career.

Ken enjoyed singing and listening to music, reading, watching movies and comedy television, skiing, fishing, travel and photography.

When he left Kenosha in the 1980s, he lived in Rhinelander and then in Hayward. He loved spending time in the outdoors, fishing, walking, and caring for his beloved dogs and one lucky cat.

In 2014, Ken moved to the Burnett Medical Center in Grantsburg. The family offers many thanks to his compassionate caregivers there. When he neared his final days, Amy, Becky and Joann were especially helpful, since family members were unable to visit due to the pandemic.

Ken was a good man, a loving father, and a loyal friend, and his memory will be cherished.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eva and Cloyd Vallin and his brother, David Vallin.

He is survived by his sister Audrey and brother-in-law Ronald Haessig (Wisconsin), sister-in-law Karen (Florida), ex-wife Janice (Minnesota), his son Gregory and daughter-in-law Kristine (Colorado), his son Daniel (Germany), and his daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Greg Johnson (Minnesota), 7 grandchildren, and 6 nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date due to the pandemic.

Sing with the angels, Dad! We will miss you.
