Judy Rundblade

July 31, 1940 — August 27, 2019

Judy was born on July 31 st , 1940 to Wally & June Swanson Hederman. Judy lived in Chicago until the age of 5, when she moved to Luck, WI with her mother and 3 brothers. In Feb 1950, Judy gained a new father and moved to Lewis Wisconsin with her family. Judy was baptized and confirmed at the Lewis Methodist Church. She attended Lewis grade school. And while trying to outdo her brothers, she became quite the athlete, learning at a very young age how to manage people.  Judy went to Frederic High School, graduating in 1959. She then moved to the city where she worked at Walgreens. Judy married her high school sweetheart, Raymond “Bud” Rundblade on Feb 20, 1960, after he was discharged from the U.S. Army. While raising their family, Bud and Judy lived in several places in the Grantsburg area, the last being the Trade Lake Camp on Highway 87. Here, she ran the game farm, raised, trained and raced homing pigeons, and was the Assistant Camp Director and cook during the summer months. She loved working with the residents and considered them her family. In the winter she ran a day care in Frederic. She could say she had a hand in raising quite a few local kids.  After losing Bud to lung disease in 1990, Judy moved to the family home on Grimh’s Lake near Frederic. She loved the lake and took so much pride in hosting all the family gatherings. She then started working for Dr’s. Vincent and Harlander as a dental assistant, a job she loved very much. She retired in 2006. After retirement, Judy spent winters in Arizona and traveling with her friend and companion, Dale Nelson, in the motorhome.  She moved to Golden Oaks in Frederic in 2015, and to Traditions of Frederic in July of 2019 until her passing. Judy wore many hats in her lifetime, most of which involved service to others. She was a 2 nd mother to all of the rest of her siblings, as well as raising her own 3 children. She was an aide at Shady Knoll in Grantsburg, Stokely worker, Head Start helper, Sunday school teacher, store clerk, at Gideon’s in Falun, Cushing Corner Store, and Sorenson’s Store on 87 in rural Grantsburg. Judy was a member of the Grantsburg American Legion Axillary and marched in many parades as a flag bearer. She was an avid fan of her children’s sporting events and was not afraid to tell the ref when his call was wrong. She was especially proud of her children. The boys, for their military service and thoughtfulness, and to Pam for always, always being there for her.  She spent many hours catering (and laughing) with Dorothy Meyer and her cousin Carol Bowman, cooking meals at the Grantsburg Legion, and baking for the United Methodist Church, where she was a member for many years. Her cookie trays were the hit of all the Family Christmases. Judy loved people and it showed in the care and concern she had for others. Judy lost her year-long battle to cancer on August 27, 2019. She left this earth, ready to see her loved ones in Heaven, with family by her side.  Judy was preceded in death, by her husband, Bud,  parents, June and Louie Moline, in-laws, Einar and Madeline Rundblade, sister-in-law, Peg Hederman, and nephew, Jim Hederman. She is survived by her children, Pam (Tim) Clausen, Scott (Summer) and Rod (Grace) Rundblade. Grand-children, Anthony, Brad (Christal), Rodney Jr. (Melana), Buddy, Geordyn, and Ashtyn Rundblade. Great-grandchildren, Landen and Baby Girl Runblade.  Special friend and companion, Dale Nelson. Brothers, Gary Andersen, Jerry (Helena), Dell (Sandy) and Dan (Judy) Hederman, sisters, Kris (Kenny) Hackett and Karna (Jim) Mortimer, nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many dear friends.  The family wishes to thank the SCRMC staff, Dr. Schneider, Tori Weinzierl, Jonn Dinnies, Amy, Susie, Holly, Sandy, and Deb Hammer, from BMC, we know you went above and beyond. She loved you all. To the staff at Traditions and St Croix Hospice, you are all very special people. We are so grateful for the services you provided Judy and our family.
