John Northup

John G. Northup, age 73, of Webster passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017. John was born on February 20, 1943 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of the late Gordon and Agnes (Larson) Northup. He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam before being honorably discharged. He was a longtime employee at Modern Roadway Asphalt Company in Minneapolis. In his free time he enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, deer hunting and being the camp cook. He also enjoyed playing the accordion and drag racing. John was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Rachel. He is survived by his children: Michelle (Jeff) Cleys, Melissa (Mark) Charlson, and Melanie (Jesse) Benson; his grandchildren: Steven, Jeffie, Jessi, Becca, Jack, J, and Clara; his great grandchildren: Dylan, Kiera, Kylie, Kaylyn, Kason, Sage, Aniyah, and Grant; his sister, Velma (Raleigh) Boreen; along with other relatives and friends. A funeral service for John will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster with Pastor Bill Schroeder officiating. Interment will follow at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner with full military honors. Casketbearers will be Steven Northup, Jeff Cleys, Jesse Benson, J Benson, Mark Charlson, and Raleigh Boreen. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
