John D. Lewis , age 82, of Danbury, WI, passed away suddenly at his home on February 25, 2020.
John was born on March 23, 1937, in Plum City, WI, to parents, Rhene (Poquette) and Loren Lewis. He graduated from Elmwood High School in 1956. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force serving for four years until his honorable discharge in 1960.
On April 21, 1958, John was united in marriage to Joan Hartung in Eau Galle, WI. Together the couple raised two sons, John and Daniel.
John spent many years working for Sperry Univac in Eagan, MN. Upon his retirement in 1990, he and Joan made their full time home in the Danbury – Voyager Village area.
John was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He enjoyed an occasional game of golf and was a devoted sports fan, never missing a Green Bay Packer or Wisconsin Badgers game. He also cherished his time spent entertaining friends and neighbors. He will be deeply missed.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Jim (Darlene) Lewis; sister, Pat Robole; sisters-in-law: Lorraine, Jean, Bling and Elaine; brother-in-law, Don; and other relatives.
John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joan Lewis; sons, John (Kristi) Lewis and Daniel (Jill) Lewis; grandchildren: Emma, Nathan, Dane and Samuel; brothers, Mike (Jo) Lewis and David (Carol) Lewis; sister, Mary Jo (Brad) Baker; brothers-in-law: Jerry (Marge) Hartung, Richard (Kris) Hartung, Ralph Robole and Ray Asher; sister-in-law, Lorraine Hartung; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial to be held Monday, March 2, 2020, at 11:00am (visitation from 10-11:00am) at Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church, 28460 County Road H, Webster, WI, with Father Randy Knauf officiating. Interment with full military honors to be held following at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
