John Krentz

John "Jack" Gary Krentz, age 76, of Hertel passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2013. Jack was born September 12, 1936 in Cumberland, Wisconsin to Doris (West) and Dr. George Krentz. He graduated from Frederic High school in 1954 and enlisted in the US Navy in 1957 where he worked as an Aviation Electrician. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he married Virginia Kay O'Donnell at Lakeview Methodist Church on September 16, 1961 and together, raised three children. After retiring as a grocery manager, Jack was often found cutting wood and woodworking. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Jack is preceded in death by his parents; Doris and Dr. George Krentz, his brother, George Krentz and his nephew, Mike Krentz. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Kay Krentz; daughters, Susan (Lowell) Ackerman of Oakdale, Minnesota and Lisa (John) Unertl of Oregon, Wisconsin. His son, Joel Krentz of Hertel Wisconsin, and a Grandson, John Joseph Unertl as well as many other relatives and friends. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 2pm-5pm at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Siren. Funeral service will be Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Hertel, with Pastor Jack Starr officiating. Music will be provided by Connie Quam and Pat Taylor. Pallbearers are Chad Andrea, Tim Andrea, Wayne Dahlstrom, Lee Daniels, David Stoylen, and Chuck Willis. Honorary pallbearers are Leo Ackerman, Lowell Ackerman, Paul Amundson, Chuck Andrea, Dan Baker, Gene Dahlstrom, Ken Java, Connie Martinson, Leroy Nelson and John Unertl.
